Catching Fire
On this blog, I want to reflect on the principles of starting a fire in a small wood-burning stove as it is related to the concept of setting ablaze the world in a larger context, but also keeping lit a smaller prayer group.
Catho-lit is an informal association of Catholic praise and worship musicians who seek to grow the Catholic praise and worship music community both in numbers and effectiveness. We strive to be faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church and our local bishops.
Catho-Lit addresses the challenge that there is no way to reliably find musicians who do contemporary Christian music and who would be available to play at Catholic events such as Mass, adoration, retreats, or prayer groups.
Catho-Lit is a website and FREE MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY for contemporary Catholic Liturgy musicians who do Praise and Worship like Matt Maher, Chris Tomlin. This type of music is a great draw to many and we are hoping to draw and keep as many involved in the Church as possible through this music. Where it is done well, Mass attendance rises.
Catho-Lit allows people to search the free membership directory for musicians by their instrument, location, and whether they can do the event on their own. It has space for samples of the musician's ability.
Diocesan and parish staff will be able to find musicians for events, like adoration and prayer groups. Musicians will be able to find each other, collaborate on workshops, help each other advance in craft and leadership skills, and showcase their music ministry at events.
