On this blog, I want to reflect on the principles of starting a fire in a small wood-burning stove as it is related to the concept of setting ablaze the world in a larger context, but also keeping lit a smaller prayer group.
One of my observations from trying to light the fire was that I had not had to do so in recent experience except with lighter fluid. So it was a different set of tasks to try to do it without chemical assistance :) .
One of the main things I revisited is that it works well to light in a smaller way; light kindling, or rather light twigs. They stay lit and the glowing/ember twigs retain a heat and stay lit, a state that aids in generating a heat that can be used to help light other other items, other twigs.
It is also notable that those twigs that have caught fire, that are lit, have the natural tending to set fire other item near them. It actually helps the prospect of having a fire that they do so because by catching fire to other things they generals a heat that reflects back and retains their fire. In this sense when we catch fire, even in small ways, we help others catch fire, but also benefit from others who are lit. Also, their heat helps the whole fire, of the group, and adds to it.
So in working with pager groups and community it is good to start small and when branches are lit allow them to set fire to on other branches or twigs. To orient the structure that they bare given opportunities to do so, and are encouraged to do so by some operation of the group. What these operations are is a good point of discussion. How does the group aid our members in doing so?
